activities, including football, rugby, cricket, swimming, netball, basketball
in the primary school follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales from
FS1 through to Year 10. PE activities are tailored to suit the learning stage
for each child, from the active start phase through to the development of
fundamental movement skills for all games and physical activities.
school children receive two periods of PE a week and one period of swimming a
week. Classes are taught by specialist teachers. Lessons are taught in state of
the art facilities. Students use the school's two swimming pools, Astroturf
football pitches, sports hall and dance studio. The emphasis is on developing
skills and knowledge in a safe, engaging and fun environment.
PE department's philosophy is that high quality teaching and learning in PE
focuses on the development of the whole child. This is why we take a broader
multi ability approach to teaching PE. Within each lesson, sport and games are
used to promote the development of not just physical skills but also personal,
social, cognitive and creative abilities while also promoting healthy active
lifestyles. Through this approach we can help children to maximise their
potential and develop as more rounded athletes and individuals.
the school year primary children take part in regular inter-House sports
activities from Year 1 upwards. These activities have proved very popular
amongst our children who are engaged by the friendly competitive nature and
team spirit that comes with it.
