Al Ain Academy we promote a learning family approach to secondary education; we seek to
educate the whole child within an environment that values and builds
relationships, teamwork and leadership skills. To this end we believe that
healthy competition is an essential part of developing individual resilience
and communication skills that foster independence and increase levels of
confidence and creativity later in life.
Within our secondary
provision we have four 'Houses' which allow for the aforementioned skills to be
continuously developed via academic, creative and sporting competitions and
acts of service throughout the year. Each student, upon entry into the
secondary provision, will be assigned to one of the Houses. Students will be awarded
House Points for excellent achievements in various activities, including class
work, home learning, citizenship and participation in extra-curricular
The four Houses are named as follows: Quartz : white;
Emerald : green; Garnet: red; Onyx : black. Secondary staff members will
support each House and Ms Allen and Mr Hill, supported by secondary colleagues,
will be responsible for keeping a tally of House Points awarded and ensuring
equity in all matters of competition.
House Points can be awarded
by any member of staff for excellent achievement or effort and a running total
of House Points achieved, both individually and for each House, will be
regularly shared with the school community. At the end of each half term House Medals will
be awarded to the Houses with the most House Points as follows:
1st – Platinum
Medal 2nd – Gold Medal 3rd – Silver Medal 4th
– Bronze Medal.
