Al Ain Academy’s Student Council is comprised of representatives from
Years 1-6. These representatives are elected by their classmates to voice views
and raise concerns with Ms. Ashford, our Student Council Chair. Each year group
has two representatives on the council. It is a wonderful responsibility for
the children as they practise problem-solving, public speaking skills and
Council members can propose and implement projects on behalf of their fellow
students. Such projects might cover whole school issues such recycling,
fulfilling social responsibility initiatives and playground suggestions. As
well, these children become role models within the school and take ownership in
our growing school environment.
Character development is integrated into the daily
life of Al Ain Academy. Our Student Council has developed a vision for
citizenship and qualities we encourage at school. Our school-related
activities and daily life nurture and encourage compassion, perseverance,
involvement, respect and responsibility. These are the key attributes that will
help shape tomorrow’s leaders today.
